Aquaflex Introduces the New ELS Servo (June 2006)
DUNCANSVILLE, PA—Aquaflex announces the introduction of the ELS Servo press, designed for the small to mid-sized label converter.
The ELS Servo, with its precise registration and speeds of up to 750 fpm, offers servo performance at a price comparable to mechanically driven presses in its class.
In addition to traditional label stocks, the ELS Servo handles unsupported films. This was a primary goal in the development of this flexible new press according to F.L. Smithe Vice President Mac Rosenbaum.
“When F.L. Smithe purchased Aquaflex in 2004, one of our goals was to make the entire Aquaflex line film-capable,” Rosenbaum explains. “With the introduction of the new ELS Servo, we have met that goal.”
This is particularly important since film labels and flexible packaging represent a growing segment of the marketplace. Small and mid-sized printers and converters are looking for ways to remain competitive. Servo performance and the ability to also print on film offer these converters new opportunities and welcomed diversification.
“We have deep roots in the label industry,” says Rosenbaum. “We wanted to make our next new product specifically for our loyal customers in that market, to provide them a practical upgrade path into film and flexible packaging.”
Enabling that transition would depend on making servo technology accessible. “We knew we had to break-down the price barrier to servo technology to make the ELS practical for label printers,” said Rosenbaum. F.L. Smithe’s in-depth experience in servo engineering for the envelope converting industry led to very innovative ways to reduce cost without compromising quality and performance.
“Value is the key word,” says Rosenbaum. “And value doesn’t mean stripping down a servo press just to meet a price point. Instead, the ELS Servo is a high-performance, state-of-the-art offering that is going to have a real impact on the marketplace. In many ways, the ELS represents a new breed of flexographic press for the label industry and we believe it is the best of breed in every category!” The Aquaflex ELS Servo will be demonstrated on the Aquaflex booth #343 at Labelexpo in Chicago this September.
