From our roots of designing and manufacturing one of the first flexographic presses to print with water-based inks (thus the name Aquaflex) to the advanced technology of the Servo FPC—future thinking and creative engineering continues to define our products.

Our customer’s need has always been our innovation engine. It was a customer’s need that led to one of the first combination presses in the industry where gravure and flexo were successfully integrated in-line. Need led to the industry’s first slide-out quick-change print-head. And, need led to the first press with an exchangeable cassette system enabling off-line job preparation and ushering in a new era of lean workflows in the label printing industry.

Aquaflex is owned and manufactured by the F. L. Smithe Machine Company, a family owned and operated business for over 100 years. F.L. Smithe is a global leader in the design and manufacture of servo-driven envelope printing and converting machines and is located in Duncansville, Pennsylvania USA.
